its good as a single player game,

but it doesn't really benefit from multiplayer. There is very little interaction with other players besides the little "distractions" Sadly, these distractions just don't add much enjoyability for me. Your graphics music, and overall gameplay are solid, but the multiplayer aspect of this game falls terribly flat.

Hey Rubbikks, Agreed that it's not as involving between players as it could be (network sync issues aside). We considered having players manually place barriers, or perhaps setup traps for others, etc. but as we tested out builds like that, it really took away from the beautiful simplicity of the core game.

Ultimately, we wanted to preserve the essence of the single player while bringing a social aspect to it, like we do with most of our games. In the end, we built a version that we'd much rather play with friends rather than alone. It's too bad our voice support isn't ready yet. It would really add to it.

Thanks for playing,

Joseph

flawed, but has potential.

there are alot of nice things about this game. The idea of flash rail shooters is defenitley underestimated and there aren't enough of them here on NG. Sadly, super cops doesn't compare very well to other flash rail shooters like sierra 7 or stickman madness. Super cops DOES have a nice, smooth, and "true-to-the-arcade" core engine, but also has alot of flaws.
The game has some crummy voice acting and sub-par visuals. Furthermore, the enemies and the environments feel a bit repetitive. My last complaint is in the lack of transitions from area to area. I was shooting bad guys on a front lawn and then all of a sudden I was in a backyard. There should be some kind of animation showing the character moving through the area to get from point A to point B.
Overall, this is alot better than some of the amateur stuff that pops up on Newgrounds, but you've still got alot to learn.

You've got some points here :)

time for me to be a jackass.

This game COULD be a 10, but it's plagued by a few crippling issues. Firstly, the game is a tad un-original. It plays a bit like another game I've played by the name of "Sarah's run." It never made it to NG, so I'm willing to ignore the similarity.
My second problem lies within the invisibility of the man's trousers. They make it a bit difficult at some points to figure out just what I can and can't land on. Maybe if they were just a semi-transparent pale grey, the game could prosper while maintaining its style.
My biggest and most frustrating issue with this game is it's crummy control scheme. I've played a few platformers like this that involve frequent changes in gravity, but none have ever limited me to only use the left and right keys. When you're upside-down, I want left to go left, not right. And when I'm on a wall, I want to move w/ the up and down keys.
Other than that, this game is phenomenal. Great level design, stylish graphics, music, concept, and all around gameplay. Despite a few minor issues, this is an amazing game.

helloearthling responds:

Hi, thanks for the feedback!
It was in part inspired by Sarah's Run. I'm a fan and friend of Sophie Houlden, and I give her full credit for being awesome. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be able to program AS3, so if she were Plato then I'm her Aristotle.

As for controls, it's tough because I know some people work in different ways, but the only way I could get smooth movement around corners was to keep using the same arrow keys. I'll give it a think, see if I can do a WASD option that works for you if I make a sequel.
P.S. I like your username!

lot's of mathematical learners

isn't that supposed to be rare? lol. at any rate, you did a good job. I really underestimated this test and thought it would be a little less serious than it really was. Little question though, does time in any way affect how you do on the test?

DemiseAnimation responds:

Maybe.

very original

quite a nice game, great graphics, smooth gameplay, overall fun to play. My only complaint is the auto-pause system, I have nothing wrong with pausing if the mouse leaves the screen, but it would be nice if the game would auto-unpause when the mouse returns onto screen. Because the dog is mouse controlled, i found myself jerking the mouse offscreen quite often, which made it a bit tedious to constantly click the unpause button.

I-smel responds:

You can unpause by pressing P, Enter or Escape

fantastic!

This game has a marvelous atmosphere to it and everything about it is just plain marvelous. It really feels like I'm playing a game inside of Tim Burton's sketchbook - it has that kind of odd, macabre feel to it. And btw, don't put yourself down about the music. I liked the main track quite a bit.

Merol responds:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
I also added some references to a Tim Burton movie.
And, I didn't made the main track man, that song is from The Dears. My songs are played with guitar only.

not even a f*cking game

So here's the deal. What you're uploading is NOT a game, but is instead an animation. Had it been uploaded as an animation, I would give it two stars, making it suffer badly for overall crummy animation quality and no relation to Katamari. If this really is a game and there's just something I'm not getting, please clue me in.

jbaggel responds:

You have to press the play button, that is interactivity, therefore it is a game.

Physics, Physics, Physics.

Let the player choose EXCACTLY where they want thier chip dropped, and then make it a physics, and not luck based game from there on out. I would look at the game Sushi Cat as a good reference to what YOU should have done with this game. Overall, though, you still did a pretty good job and the game had an authentic feel to it, and I LOVED that it actually used my newgrounds account name in game, that was cool. Achievments were nice, but really not related to skill in any way, so they're not really worth much. Beyond that, I would suggest adding a "sandbox mode" where you get unlimited chips that you can plink to your hearts content.

pacdude responds:

Considering that after you release it, the chip still takes its random bounces down the board, physics wouldn't make the game skill based. The game is still a game of luck, physics or not.

needs work on the crashing thing.

what you've made is a VERY simple game. It should not by any means need enough of my computer's processing power to make it crash. You seriously need to look at your coding and see what you can simplify. Beyond that, I think the game had potential. It's kinda like one of those strange artistic games - unfortunately, patrons of Newgrounds don't quite appreciate art games very much. For the handful that do, I would suggest adding some form of motivation, possibly a caption or phrase illustrating a story as the player progresses.

K0Nx responds:

the lag is on purpose ;D

but thanks alot. I haven't agreed with alot of the reviewers but simple story text might have been nice.

you know the drill

need to improve:
Better graphics are a MUST!!!! right now this game is the most visually unappealing thing I've ever seen.
more balanced gameplay. There's often far too many enemies onscreen at once to successfully shoot down. I would suggest changing the weapon to a machinegun, giving more ammo, or having enemies spawn less frequently.
Beyond that, the game is acceptable, if not quite a bit repetitive.

thanks for the tips
