flawed, but has potential.

there are alot of nice things about this game. The idea of flash rail shooters is defenitley underestimated and there aren't enough of them here on NG. Sadly, super cops doesn't compare very well to other flash rail shooters like sierra 7 or stickman madness. Super cops DOES have a nice, smooth, and "true-to-the-arcade" core engine, but also has alot of flaws.
The game has some crummy voice acting and sub-par visuals. Furthermore, the enemies and the environments feel a bit repetitive. My last complaint is in the lack of transitions from area to area. I was shooting bad guys on a front lawn and then all of a sudden I was in a backyard. There should be some kind of animation showing the character moving through the area to get from point A to point B.
Overall, this is alot better than some of the amateur stuff that pops up on Newgrounds, but you've still got alot to learn.

You've got some points here :)

haters gonna hate.

It IS true that the graphics here are pretty crummy, but I've also seen worse. Graphics are usually a pretty big deal for me, but the fast paced style of this game made it difficult to notice the lack of quality visuals. What holds this game back very heavily is poor controls. It is awfully difficult to move and aim with the same set of controls, and you might've been better off going with keybaord and mouse. Also, I found that there was a painful lack of balance between my two weapons - the machinegun has a much faster RoF, seems to do more damage, and didn't seem to have a limit on ammo. Maybe it's just me, but I saw NO reason whatsoever to use the pistol. Other than that, this is actually a really nice game.

I am utterly baffled.

Look, this game is bad all around. The graphics are really crummy, the gameplay is far too simplistic to be fun, and there is no plot or motivation to continue whatsoever. The music is decent, but still bare minimum and can NOT salvage a game that is flat out terrible.
I seriously fail to see ANY appeal in this game, let alone a reason for it to get tons of good reviews ALONG WITH a second place on the frontpage. I know I seem like a hater or a flamer or whatever, but I'm trying to be as honest as I can. This game is attrocious. Negative stars.

not my cup of tea.

Maybe a more casual gamer might enjoy this (and i mean REALLY casual) but I just didn't feel it. But this game DOES have nice music and some nice graphics, so I'll give you SOME stars.

time for me to be a jackass.

This game COULD be a 10, but it's plagued by a few crippling issues. Firstly, the game is a tad un-original. It plays a bit like another game I've played by the name of "Sarah's run." It never made it to NG, so I'm willing to ignore the similarity.
My second problem lies within the invisibility of the man's trousers. They make it a bit difficult at some points to figure out just what I can and can't land on. Maybe if they were just a semi-transparent pale grey, the game could prosper while maintaining its style.
My biggest and most frustrating issue with this game is it's crummy control scheme. I've played a few platformers like this that involve frequent changes in gravity, but none have ever limited me to only use the left and right keys. When you're upside-down, I want left to go left, not right. And when I'm on a wall, I want to move w/ the up and down keys.
Other than that, this game is phenomenal. Great level design, stylish graphics, music, concept, and all around gameplay. Despite a few minor issues, this is an amazing game.

Hi, thanks for the feedback!
It was in part inspired by Sarah's Run. I'm a fan and friend of Sophie Houlden, and I give her full credit for being awesome. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be able to program AS3, so if she were Plato then I'm her Aristotle.

As for controls, it's tough because I know some people work in different ways, but the only way I could get smooth movement around corners was to keep using the same arrow keys. I'll give it a think, see if I can do a WASD option that works for you if I make a sequel.
P.S. I like your username!

I've lowered my standards on the game jam

So far all of the game jam entries I've played so far were crappy. This game on the other hand was alot of fun. It felt a little too simple, but amusing nonetheless.

unoriginal and unfair.

its been done before. ALOT. Your take on this sort of game is just uncool. The buttons need to be pressed with way too much precision, or you fail. The player needs a little more leeway to press the buttons at the time they see fit. Other than that, graphics and music were good so I give you a 4/10.

you ... rock.

I'm a huge fan of this indie band called stroke 9, but I can never actually find any of thier music. I typed in thier name, waited thirty seconds, and there I was with the entire discography of stroke 9. I love you.

I've been waiting for this...

...ever since I saw the trailer for it on Atomic Duck. It looked like a fantastic game and surpassed my wildest expectations. Fantastic gameplay mixed with gorgeous art and a slew of internet pop-culture references makes for some of the most fun I've had playing a flash game. EVER. Looking forward to more good work out of the secret base team.

just let it go, pal.

You had a good run, but it's over. Just abandon the age of defense games and focus on a broader horizon.
This game looks fairly ugly, and as far as I can tell, there are absolutely NO new features available. Either give this a massive new makeover, or throw it away.
On another note, this really shouldn't have been uploaded as a game. It's a lightly interactive animation.
